Get to know me!

HOLA! And welcome to Caballe Family! I am honored and delighted that you landed here!

It’s me, Julai, the happy-at-home mom behind this blog. I am a cradle Catholic from Bohol, Philippines who got into the marriage train later in life (at 35). I’m now in my 40s and still with small kids, but I’m very happy and contented despite being an older mom.

I used to be an au-pair/househelp for 12 years in Europe (4 years in Denmark & Norway and 8 years in Spain).

This blog is my happy little space on the web where I share my family’s love for God and the Catholic faith, as well as information and tips in visiting Catholic destinations with kids.

My Story

Connecting with Other Catholic Moms

Since we live in a rural area with few neighbors and very few practicing Catholics and our parish is mostly attended by very old parishioners (we recently moved to a new parish a bit far from home, but with more families with small kids), I would love to connect with other Catholic and Christian moms around the world who are also in pursuit of a happy and Christ-centered family life through this space.

CATHOLIC LIVING

I grew up a cradle Catholic and witnessed my grandparents and parents’ active involvement in the Church. I became part of the Confraternity of Our Lady of Lourdes (COLL) during my teens and also an active member (and the girl leader of our village’s mission team) of the Youth for Christ Ministry under CFC, and then it became CFC-FFL (Couples for Christ – Foundation for Family and Life).

I was one of the speakers during our Singles Discovery Weekend here in Spain (when I was still single).

I continued to be active at Church even when I worked as an Au-pair in Denmark and joined the Singles for Christ Ministry there. I went to Norway and then Spain, and maintained my active participation in the community.

The community is now known as Missionary Families of Christ (MFC) and I’m so glad because I was able to convince my husband to also join the community. We are now part of the Couples Ministry, though our attendance is getting lesser due to my husband’s busy schedule.

But in spite of being active at Church, I still don’t know a lot of things about my faith and the Church. And now that I am older, I am more passionate about learning more about the Catholic faith and the Catholic Church.

Thankfully, my husband and I are on the same page in our belief that our faith in God should be an important part of our family life. Everything we do should be based on the faith that we have.

We want to put God in the center of our married life and in our home, and we want to make God our highest priority, at all times.

We also want our kids to learn about our faith and God as early as possible.

But we are human and we fail most of the time. I’ll be sharing here all our “faith experiences” in the hope that they can be of help in your faith journey, as well.

You will find many posts here about prayers, novenas, devotions, and other things related to Catholic/Christian living.

CATHOLIC DESTINATIONS

Though we like to explore Spain when we have the opportunity, the adventures we will share here will be about Catholic destinations since my family loves visiting pilgrimage/religious sites and everytime we go on vacation, we always try our best to visit a Church and go to Mass every Sunday and other holy days of obligation wherever we are.

A smiling woman wearing sunglasses, a red Adidas shirt, and jeans poses in front of the stunning Sanctuary of Covadonga in Asturias, Spain. The historic church, with its twin spires and red-brick façade, stands against a lush green mountain backdrop. The bright, sunny day enhances the vibrant scenery, capturing a moment of travel and joy.

And now that the kids are a bit older, we would like to make short pilgrimages to different Catholic sites here in Spain, Europe, and hopefully in other parts of the world, too, if our time and resources permit.

And I will be sharing all the helpful information and tips here in the blog.
